SRA UPDATE AUTUMN 2015 by the SRA Security Subcommittee....
We are working hard and aggressively researching the BEST strategy/solution for security in Llandudno. An effective strategy will not be cheap, and therefore rather than spend needless short term money on ineffective fixes, we are waiting for the identification, negotiation and implementation of a preferred strategy which may take some more months from here. It is currently envisaged the proposed strategy will be a combination of cameras that monitor the perimeter of Llandudno together with 24/7 offsite monitoring with the capability of immediate response The inclusion of LPR (number plate recognition) cameras in the long-term solution is being assessed. We need to bridge what we have to what we need, and ways of doing this are being explored within the constraints of the Llandudno SRA approved budget. The goal is to ensure Llandudno is a safe and secure environment, and therefore an even more desirable place to live.
Llandudno is one of the safest areas on the Peninsula largely due to proactive management by the LCA and the Llandudno NW (LNW) of the protection services provided by ADT, liaison with SAPS and good communication with Llandudno residents.
ADT has a patrol car that patrols Llandudno 24x7 paid for by the residents who contract with ADT in Llandudno.
The LCA funded wireless radios for the core LNW team, the backbone for the wireless radio network and the backbone for the CCTV cameras and CCTV cameras in Public Open Spaces (POS).
Residents have individual contracts with ADT.
